K Street School
K Street School, located SE corner of K and Santa Clara streets, constructed in 1889 of brick. R.L. Young was the architect. Total cost was $20,000, containing 12 rooms, of which eight were classrooms. Featured two octagonal central halls, with hall on upper floor seating 600 as an auditorium. The school functioned as the city's high school until 1896, when Fresno High School was dedicated. The K Street building later housed the Emerson Elementary School, and was demolished ca. 1930 Originally issued as a series of twenty photogravure plates: World's Fair edition, Volume I. San Francisco : W.B. Tyler, c1890. Rocq 2013. The physical item is bound in decorated cream-colored wrappers, bound in cloth ties and with tissues between the plates.
