Wolters School Wolters School is named for one of the “colonies” or agricultural developments surrounding Fresno, the Wolters Colony. It was to the northeast of the original city limits. As the city and the school district expanded, the school and the area it served became surrounded by both. It was originally established in 1892, and was annexed to the Fresno Unified School District on June 16, 1959. It first appeared in the district directory in 1960-61. The school is located at 5174 North First Street and serves children in the area in grades K-6. Photo of Wolters Elementary ca 1925
